Satchel Smith : English 12 : 2A
My name is Satchel Smith, my friends call me Insight, and my pen name is Loki Sterling. As you may guess, I’m a creator. I love to tell stories and paint worlds. I’ve spent years perfecting my drawing and narration, and I hope I may continue that into the future, as there is still much to be done. I know it won’t be easy, but my goal is to pursue further education so I may gain a deep understanding of what I enjoy.
Learning Goals:

Revise extensivly: improve a piece of writing and to revise writing at all levels of meaning, from individual words to entire essays.

Mantain a writer's notebook: an important tool for thinking and reflecting.

Be a positive community memeber: provide high-quality feedback to peers on their writing, participate in small group and whole-group conversations, and move through the classroom space (physical and digital) with kindness.

Demonstrate successful student habits: meeting deadlines, reading and following instructions, asking questions, seeking help and support, and maintaining digital tools and spaces effectivly to keep track of work.

Practice effective self-reflection, self-evaluation, and metacognition: To know what I aleady know, what I want or need to know, what I've learned, and how well I've learned it.
Why?

Aside from the acts everyone should strive for, I picked my goals to improve myself in and outside a school setting. Afterall, I am an aspiring writer, but "aspiring" isnt good enough. I need to BE a writer. As such, I've settled on goals which will hopefully set me in that direction, such as keeping a notebook and reflecting on my work. Furthuremore, a similar argument can be made for my art aswell.

Although the end goal is not easy or simple, the purpose of getting myself on that path is straightforward. I'll keep a journal to explore different concepts and ideas, and to keep myself in check. Writing a paragraph is one thing, but using a journal lets me take a step back to analyze and edit that text.
